To Do Great work you must love what you do!
Yay!… You found my cozy floral studio in the heart of Richland, WA!
I feel so honored when couples reach out and share their wedding dreams.
I started Simplified Celebrations in 2009 from a converted third bay garage at my house so I could be a work at home mom. Being a new mother, new business owner, new to networking made me feel like I had a scarlet letter “R” for rookie status on my chest at all times. Looking back at the infant years of this endeavor I truly know that the only thing that kept me going was the grace of God and fear of failure. Now after 16 years of designing, I still love what I am doing. Tri-Cities and Walla Walla have many small businesses that mentored me on my journey. Thanks to venue owners, photographers, bakers, planners, and other vendors that saw me out there every Saturday delivering weddings and took a chance on referring me. About 8 years in, this little flower business outgrew that garage and those babies were in school full time so I relocated to where we have been since 2015 on the corner of Casey Avenue & Comstock in Richland. I 100% love where we are and our all female owned strip of businesses tucked in a residential neighborhood.
This obsession of all things floral started in Eastern Oregon in a little town called Elgin with little yellow buttercups. On one of many outings with my grandfather, he handed me a beer can with the top cut off after he filled the it with spring water. My tiny 6 year old fingers used his pocketknife to carefully harvest those bright, shiny flowers to gift to grandma. Those buttercup filled mountains are in my soul and all flowers are in my blood. Being under the floral spell has brought me so many amazing experiences with couples from all over the PNW, each with a unique vision that they have asked me to translate on their big day.
My babies have now grown to teenagers and the nest is going to be empty soon. So I did the next logical thing and got a furry pup named Dutton. You will see this grey bundle of energy at the studio, in reels on our gram, and riding around with me all over town.
When I am not designing weddings and events, or working on timelines, you will catch me spreading my love of flowers by teaching Sips & Stems classes and mentoring the Tri-City Prep Flower Lab students. Teaching floral design has been a fun shift for me in the last few years. I plan to offer professional courses in the future for those wanting to learn a more in depth, hands on learning option of this trade. Stay tuned!
